In these sessions, we learn how to tell stories in a new language: English.
These stories portray different situations that can happen in our family or with our friends or classmates. They are funny, but at the same time real, we enjoy them with emotion and intrigue.
These stories are dialogues between two characters. In the beginning, our teacher represents all of them without any visual support. She uses the same expression and body gesture for each oral expression, which makes it easy for us to memorise. Afterwards, we are the ones who represent the dialogues, and we have a lot of fun.
Then, we start to work with flashcards, games, etc. Finally, we tell the story through a Puppet Theatre, which will be brought at home to tell the story to our parents.
In these stories we can find a relation with the projects we are working in the class. What we learn helps us establish dialogues in other situations. For instance, with my classmates in my school or my friends in my neighbourhood.
P3:
This week the Three Wise Men have brought us a surprise: Munchy.
Munchy is a yellow puppet that will come to our class and stay with us from time to time. At the moment, it has only been introduced to us, but it seems very nice and cute. It loves to play with us and listen to Peggy’s stories.
Ah! Munchy only understands English and, thus, we will have to speak to it in this language. That is not going to be a problem, we think we are going to get along very well and have a lot of fun.
P4:
We just came back from the Christmas holidays and this week we have been talking about the presents that the Three Wise Men brought us. When talking about the gifts and presents, a new vocabulary topic has been introduced, the toys, that will be linked to the second story, “Peter”.
Thanks to vocabulary practice, it will be easier for us to learn the dialogue and act out the story. We can’t wait to start working on the story and practice with our classmates and our teacher!!!
P5:
Since we have just returned from our Christmas holidays, it is time to start a new story. Some of us have used these relaxing weeks to play with the puppets and stickers of the story that we brought home from the last trimester, The Cake. Now, we are starting to learn a new story: The Monster. In order to understand it better, we have been revising the parts of the body because they are essential for this story. We have been singing songs and playing a memory game to remember all of this vocabulary in a funny way.
We are looking forward to seeing how this Monster is!
