I bring you some book ideas so you can have a great time with your kids! Reading to them gives many benefits in the early ages, such as: passing on the love for reading, strengthening the emotional bond between parents and children, improving attention, and it is a moment of calm! Before sleeping is a good time to do so, as it encourages your child to go to bed and sleep happily and in a state of crying. What could be better than this?

The books I recommend are in english, spanish and catalan. In addition, they are stories for all children and some to help us in difficult moments.

I also give you some tips to read them:

• Don’t be in a hurry and enjoy the moment
• Don’t read, interpret and tell them the story
• Let them interact with the book and participate with the story
• Repeat the words and explain everything they don’t understand.
• Keep their favorite stories in rotation.

How do we learn, you might ask? Ladybug has a lot of resources! We learn through songs, crafts, stories, cards… lots of fun and surprising things!

These first few weeks, we have been getting to know Ladybug. She is red with black spots but sometimes she loses them.  Luckily she has us to help her find them. She also explains to us, through a story, that she doesn’t know how to fly! But thanks to many friends she manages to do so!

Children feel more comfortable and confident when they know what to expect. So, first of all they sit down in a circle and they do the “Hello song” to start their English time. Teacher Lara and Blanca have four or five flashcards upside down and they pick them up one by one, and they sing and dance the song that corresponds. They also do the “Good morning song” and give a big hug to our lovely Ladybug!

They used to repeat the same routine in order to learn some songs, words and that’s why repetition is essential: children need to hear words so many times before  they feel ready to produce them themselves.
