Here are some practical ways to get involved in a positive way:

Ask your child about their day at school, what they learned, and who they played with. Listening attentively shows them that you care about their daily life and strengthens the bond between you.

2. Communicate with teachers

Attend school meetings, stay in touch with teachers, and don’t hesitate to ask how you can support your child at home. At our school, for example, we offer options such as Espai Acció, tutoring sessions, and FEAC workshops. Consistent communication creates a strong bridge between the family and the school.

3. Participate in school activities

Get involved in events like the Encesa de Llums, the festa major, Christmas festivals, and other school projects. Your presence not only motivates your child but also helps create a safe and welcoming school environment.

4. Encourage positive habits

Teach your child the importance of punctuality, respect, and organization. The values they learn at home are reflected in their behavior at school. Help them get organized at home and arrive on time so they can start the day feeling confident and ready.

5. Celebrate their achievements, no matter how small

Recognizing their efforts and progress strengthens their enthusiasm for learning. Maintaining good communication with their teacher will allow you to celebrate successes both at school and at home, creating a continuous circle of support and motivation.

Being involved in your child’s school life doesn’t mean being there all the time—it means being present with attention, interest, and affection. With your support, every school day can be a positive and enriching experience for them.

For some time now, fashion about screen use have been changing. One of the most recent changes is to focus on more motor, experimental, creative and experiential aspects of pre-school education. As a result, technology and its use is relegated to later stages such as Primary and Secondary.  

Sometimes the reality in a family can be different, so we propose a few TIPS for reconciling technology and family.

1. Parental supervision: Supervise the time and content of screens according to the age of the child.

2. Selection of programmes: Choose educational content and encourage family dialogue.

3. Encourage other activities: Prioritise reading, outdoor play and sport.

4. Disconnection at mealtimes: Avoid the use of screens during meals and school activities.

5. Bedtime routine: No screen use at least two hours before bedtime.

6. Adult role model: Parents should model a balanced use of screens, especially at family moments.

It is important to educate in the good use of technology; denying its existence is not an option in an educational context.  Sooner or later, our students, your children, will get to know it, either through friends or in other circumstances. And they have to be prepared to deal with it.  So, within our educational work, we have the responsibility to teach them about the benefits and harms of the use of technology, be it mobile phones, laptops, ipads or other media, which open up a wide, unknown and not always safe world to them.

Play is a natural and enjoyable activity for children. When learning English through play, children are more likely to stay engaged and motivated. Educational games, songs, and interactive activities make language learning fun and interactive, creating a positive learning environment where children are eager to participate and explore.

In conclusion, we can affirm that play is a crucial methodology for learning English in Early Childhood education. We play throughout the day at different times and in different settings, sometimes it’s free or guided play, individual or collective. Moreover, there are several reference teachers who perform the function of verbal modelling during these moments. Repetition and habit make some linguistic structures easily memorized, leading to complete understanding. After internalizing them, they are used automatically. Not forgetting that the motivation inherent in play facilitates its acquisition.

Ateliers are more than mere art rooms; they are environments designed to encourage experimentation, discovery, and personal expression. Here, children are encouraged to explore a variety of materials and techniques without constraints, allowing them to develop their own style and creative voice.

In these spaces, children are seen as potential artists, capable of creating unique and meaningful works. They are given the freedom to make decisions about what to create and how to do it, helping them develop critical thinking skills and problem-solving abilities from an early age.

Education in creativity in an Atelier goes beyond artistic production. It’s about cultivating curiosity, self-confidence, and adaptability. As children experiment with different media and techniques, they learn to approach challenges creatively and to see mistakes as learning opportunities.

 Moreover, Ateliers foster collaboration and the exchange of ideas among children. Through teamwork and communication, they learn to appreciate different perspectives and to build upon each other’s ideas.

In our school, we conduct these learning sessions with two teachers inside the classroom. Each of them conducts the session in different languages: English, Catalan and Spanish.

In summary, Ateliers are vital spaces for educating young children in creativity. By providing a stimulating and judgment-free environment, these places inspire imagination and innovative thinking, laying the groundwork for the development of future creative leaders and visionaries.
