Students from Primary have celebrated Halloween with poems, songs, plays and even with a drawing contest! We’ve had so much fun all together and we have shared a bit of this tradition that is coming the 31^st of this month.

Pumpkin craft

At the Llar d’infants we work on the vocabulary of each project in the three languages. In the case of English we have the help of our friend Ladybug who does it through stories, songs and crafts!

Recently we have made a craft related to pumpkins! That typical autumn food. Sometimes we don’t need to have the main component, but we can look at its characteristics! Their shape and colour is what can catch our attention the most. So with three materials it will be very easy to make a great craft!

Materials

-black cardboard
– aironfix
– orange paper (if it’s cellophane, it’s better)

How is it done?

draw a big pumpkin on the black cardboard, cut out the outline and empty it inside.
Place the aironfix on a window, leaving the part that sticks outwards and place the pumpkin inside
the best part! The orange party! Stick all the orange cellophane papers on the pumpkin.
Cut off the excess and stick the pumpkin on a window, this time on the side where the aironfix sticks.

And pumpkin done! Look how beautiful it looks when the light passes through the orange paper! Welcome to autumn!

Halloween Time

The last week of October besides ‘La Castanyada’, we also celebrated Halloween! We discovered lots of new things about this ancient Celtic tradition. We learned new facts, vocabulary, rhythms, stories, and games. We even went Trick or Treating.

Learning about other cultures and traditions widens up our global perspective.

It was a ‘scary’ and ‘terrifying’ adventure!

Autumn has just arrived! And what better way to discover what happens in this season than spend it with your family!

There are a lot of places you can go and have a nice lunch under the trees watching the leaves fall: “El pantà de Vallvidrera” , “El parc de la Ciutadella”, “Laberint d’horta”, “Parc de Collserola”…

What can we do? Playing is the best way they learn, so you can create a competition and ask them to look for red, yellow and brown leaves. Who took more? Who has the bigger leaf?

It is important to always make them reflect, for example: “Why are there so many colors? The leaves are not green as always, why do you think is that for? Where did you find the leaves, on the floor or at the top of the tree?

Additionally, you can bring leaves at home and do some crafts with them, as hanging mobiles for their room, bookmarks, use leaves as stamps with paint.

Creativity has no boundaries.
